On 30 September 2025<\/strong>, Microsoft will introduce changes to how certain third-party apps handle calls in Teams<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In practical terms, this means that some providers who previously offered external calling without an official Microsoft Phone System licence<\/strong> will need to modify their service or increase costs<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

If your company uses <\/strong>Enreach Contact for Teams<\/strong><\/a>, there’s no need to worry<\/strong>: our calls, transfers and virtual switchboard will continue working just as they do today.<\/p>\n

WHAT\u2019S CHANGING IN TEAMS<\/strong><\/h2>\n

From 30 September 2025, Microsoft will no longer allow some third-party applications to automatically transfer calls<\/strong> or add participants to calls<\/strong> unless a Phone System licence<\/strong> is in place.<\/p>\n

Manual transfers<\/strong> and direct calls (Teams to Teams)<\/strong> will continue to work as normal.<\/p>\n

SOLUTIONS THAT WILL BE AFFECTED<\/strong><\/h2>\n

If your company is using alternative integrations to manage calls in Teams without a Phone System licence, the following features will no longer be available:<\/strong><\/p>\n

  1. Call transfers initiated by a bot<\/strong> hosted in a third-party app within Teams.<\/li>\n
  2. Adding participants to an external (PSTN) call via a bot<\/strong> hosted in a third-party app within Teams.<\/li>\n
  3. Any automation that uses the ‘transfer<\/strong>‘ or ‘addParticipant<\/strong>‘ APIs.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Manual transfers and participant additions made by users<\/strong> will continue to function as usual. These changes only affect bot-initiated features.<\/p>\n

    SOLUTIONS THAT WON\u2019T BE AFFECTED<\/strong><\/h2>\n

    Alongside our telephony solution for Teams, the following services will not be impacted<\/strong>:<\/p>\n

    1. Third-party applications built on alternative technologies.<\/strong> Solutions that don\u2019t rely on Graph bots or the ‘transfer<\/strong>‘ or ‘addParticipant<\/strong>‘ APIs (e.g. integrations with Azure Communication Services) can continue offering external calling without a Phone System licence.<\/li>\n
    2. Internal calls<\/strong> (Teams to Teams).<\/li>\n
    3. External calls using a Phone System licence<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
    4. Call transfers manually initiated<\/strong> by a user (human).<\/li>\n
    5. Adding new participants to PSTN calls<\/strong> manually by a user (human).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      RECOMMENDATIONS IF YOUR COMPANY IS AFFECTED BY THESE CHANGES IN TEAMS<\/strong><\/h2>\n

      We recommend contacting your current service provider<\/strong> to check whether any of the features you rely on will no longer be supported after 30 September 2025.<\/p>\n
