According to David Cearly, vice president of Gartner, these are the 10 technology trends that will shape the immediate digital future.

  1. Hyperconnected devices: The so-called Internet of things is consolidated and all devices will be more connected than ever. We don’t just talk about mobile, tablet or computer and consoles, but also cars, lights, blinds or home heating.
  2. Fusion of experiences: Users make use of technologies anywhere, so the context (work-shop / work-home / travel-home) will be combined with the experience in a virtual, electronic or physical way, so these mixed experiences will be transported in different areas.
  3. Elements for 3D printing: The formulation with different ingredients in search of the breakthrough in 3D printing is being improved at a high speed. Sanitary, air or mechanical applications are becoming a fact.
  4. Information management: Enterprises must indentify useful data and information to its strategy and what algorithms offer them added value.
  5. Analytics technologies: there will be an improvement in the ‘master key’ machines and automatic systems, like mechanisms for data analysis in databases. These processes improve the efficiency of information with which they work.
  6. ‘Robotic’ sales agents: virtual assistants will be able to operate automatically and allow interaction with a user interface. The customer experience will improve so that the virtual assistant’s treatment simulates intelligence and autonomy.
  7. Adaptive Security: Hacker threats are becoming more sophisticated, requiring new protection strategies and smarter ones.
  8. Increasingly complex computing architecture: the use of new intelligent machines will also require a new and more complex software architecture.
  9. New applications for marketing services: their role will be to integrate devices, applications and services on a flexible architecture that allows the connection of objects in a coordinated way. We are walking into the digital experience.
  10. The Internet of things is here: the latest trend is actually the result of all the preceding. Communications between connected objects, with the added value of an IT strategy, will consolidate a model that was anticipated for years and wasn’t here yet.
