Masvoz has launched the second edition of the Masvoz Journalism and Telecommunications Prize with the aim of rewarding the endeavours of all journalists that, through their hard work, contribute towards bringing our society closer to the realities of modern technology. The prize also aims to support and encourage the dissemination of knowledge in the field of telecommunications.

All journalist works, published in any of the official languages in Spain between September 1, 2013, and August 31, 2014, are eligible to enter the competition. Pieces published in printed media, audio-visual media, or in electronic form, with a focus on telecommunications, shall be accepted.

The winning piece will receive a prize of €1,000, which shall be awarded by a jury made up of professionals from inside the company, and the journalism and telecommunications sectors. 4 finalists shall also be awarded commemorative certificates. When making its decision, the jury shall consider factors such as the quality of information, the reliability and the range of sources used, the originality of the piece’s focus, the level of social interest, and the difficulty of preparing the piece.

Any piece wishing to enter the competition must be submitted by August 31, 2014 in electronic form by emailing comunicacion@masvoz.es or by mail to the Masvoz Communications Department (Departamento de Comunicación de Masvoz – Via Augusta, 59. 08006 Barcelona). The full documentation for the call can be downloaded here.

The first edition of the Mazvoz Prize, in 2013, received 136 pieces from media sources throughout Spain. Antonio Lorenzo, a writer who specialises in technology and telecommunications for the El Economista newspaper and editor of the elEconomista.es electronic magazine Tecnología, was the winner.
