Cloud solutions are key to the transformation process of organizations, but most experts now agree that we are entering in a second stage of the cloud whose growth accelerates as CIOs try to take advantage of the benefits that scale economy of the cloud has on business resources.

Top cloud trends for 2017

As we approach 2017, small, medium and large companies are intensifying their interest to improve the effectiveness in the scaling of its resources. At this point, the implementation of public, private and hybrid cloud solutions is being determinant, so much, that its growth will intensify during the next year.

This is said in a new study by Forrester carried out among more than a thousand entrepreneurs of technology infrastructure in the North American and the European regions. Thus, 38% say they are building private clouds compared to 32% who opt for public cloud services. The hybrid cloud model is being adopted by 59% of the total. But perhaps the most significant is that those who have not yet done so, point out that they plan to do so over the next year.

Thus, during 2017, Forrester identifies a variety of trends that will manifest in this process of adoption of cloud solutions by companies:

  1. The leading global vendors will remain IBM, Google, Amazon and Microsoft, who will multiply the number of their data centers and work hand in hand with local vendors.
  1. Cost control will be intensified through the use of specific tools such as Cloudability or AWS.
  1. By leveraging the flexibility of the cloud and existing migration services, Forrester is committed to rewriting applications for the public cloud, rather than just downloading them from the cloud as a key to optimal performance.
  1. Forrester also recommends the use of hyper-converged infrastructure or HCI solutions to accelerate time-to-value deployments in the private cloud, especially when automated scaling is required.
  1. There has been an increase in business applications in the public cloud, a trend that will increase over the course of 2017.
  1. Linux containers will reach the main public and private platforms and the developers will consume them directly to boost their microservices. This will create new security problems that must be addressed.
  1. Cloud service providers themselves will design and integrate security into their offerings.
  1. Chinese firms will give further impetus to cloud computing.
