In its report “State of Unified Communications and Business Collaboration in Spain”, IDC estimates an average growth in the UC & C market in Spain of 2.7% up to 2021, reaching a volume of 429 million euros. The IDC forecast also points out that by 2020, 50% of unified communications applications will be cloud-based.
In Spain this growth will be heterogeneous, so knowing which types of companies offer greater potential and adapting offers to their needs is important. The forecast is positive in all business models with an overall market growth, highlighting small businesses with an average annual growth of 7.5% until 2021.
Large organizations show lower growth as they constitute a more mature market with greater penetration of UC & C solutions. SMEs, however, are beginning to incorporate solutions of this type and therefore have the greatest growth potential.
Regarding the different areas included in the Unified Communications and Collaboration sector, most of the market is occupied by consulting and integration services (37%) and software for Contact Centers and infrastructure on Premise (13%).
To deepen the analysis of the availability, use and benefits of unified communications and business collaboration, IDC Spain has carried out fieldwork on a sample of more than 150 organizations from all sectors, including Public Administrations.
Corporate UC&C Tools
According to the report, regarding the collaboration tools that allow file sharing, in 57% of the organizations consulted, more than 75% of the staff have access to them; however, 62% declare that less than 75% of their workforce makes use of them. Regarding the main improvements after starting the use of this type of solutions, the improvement in the agility at the time of collaborating and the increase in productivity stand out.
While a high percentage of organizations give access to most of their staff to corporate instant messaging tools, there are still 25% of companies in which less than 30% of the workforce have access to this type of solution.
In reference to videoconferencing solutions, the use of it is less frequent and there is a relevant part of the templates of large organizations that are not benefiting from the productivity improvements that the use of these solutions is offering.
