The journalist Lucía El Asri, of hojaderouter.com, has been chosen as the winner of the 2nd edition of the Masvoz Journalism and Telecommunications Prize in a ceremony held at the Old Damm Factory in Barcelona. The event, hosted by journalist Bruno Sokolowicz, was attended by representatives from the telecommunications, business and journalism sectors.
This Prize of 1,000 for the winner, with commemorative certificates for the other finalists, is awarded to professionals that, according to the jury, have excelled in the dissemination of journalistic works in areas related to the telecommunications sector from a global perspective: innovation applied to telecommunications, consumption of telecommunications, and its application for information technology and communication, or cloud computing in its different applications.
In total, 120 works were entered in this 2nd edition of the Masvoz Journalism and Telecommunications Prize, organised by Masvoz, the telecommunications operator specialising in telephony services for companies via the Masvoz cloud. Lucía El Asri, who scooped the main prize in this 2nd edition for her report titled: Internet in the middle of the desert, writes for hojaderouter.com, Msur.es and numerous digital media outlets, and the Yorokobu magazine.
The four finalists to receive a commemorative certificate were Raúl Montilla and Óscar Muñoz of La Vanguardia; Rebeca Yanke of El Mundo; Noelia Hernández of Personal Computer & Internet; and José Luis Avilés of hojaderouter.com.
The Prize was awarded following a vote by a jury made up of recognised experts in the business, telecommunications and journalism sectors: Joan Solé, Dean of the Official College of Telecommunications Engineers of Catalonia; Franc Carreras, Marketing Digital lecturer at ESADE and founder of Somos Digitales and Silicon Barri; Cristóbal Escoda, director and founder of NAE Consulting; Antonio Lorenzo, writer specializing in technology and telecommunications in El Economista and director of the online magazine Tecnología of elEconomista.es; and Xavier Blasco, Masvoz CFO.
To make their final decision, the jury members considered factors such as the quality of the information, the reliability and the range of the sources used, the originality of the pieces focus, the level of social interest, and the difficulty of preparing the piece.

About the 2nd edition of the Masvoz Journalism and Telecommunications Prize
With the aim of supporting and rewarding the work of journalists endeavouring to enhance societys knowledge of telecommunications, Masvoz has announced this 2nd edition of the Masvoz Journalism and Telecommunications Prize. Through this recognition, the telecommunications operator sought to reward the work of journalists, who through their hard work contribute towards bringing society closer to current technological progress.
